The Monregalese & The Langhe

The Monregalese is the name of the territory surrounding the town of Mondovì. The northern Monregalese forms part of the famous Langhe wine country. The rolling hills in this area are planted with Dolcetto vines that produce some of Italy's finest Dolcetto wine, such as Dolcetto di Dogliani DOCG and Dolcetto delle Langhe Monregalesi DOC.

The southern part of the Monregalese is comprised of five alpine valleys with pristine pastures and woodlands. The area is known for its gastronomic delights such as Raschera and Toma cheeses, porcini mushrooms, chestnuts, hazelnuts and of course, the prized white truffle.

Villa Favolosa is located where the Langa meets the alpine valleys, making the B&B the perfect base for exploring not only the wine country but all that Cuneo Province has to offer.

At the heart of the Monregalese is the town of Mondovì itself. Founded nearly 1,000 years ago, Mondovì is a jewel waiting to be discovered. It is home to many exquiste examples of Late Gothic and Baroque art and architecture.

Mondovì has played a major role in Piemontese history, being the site of Piemonte's first university as well as its first printing press.
The crowning jewel of Monregalese architecture is the Santuario Regina Montis Regalis in the lovely town of Vicoforte. Commissioned by Duke Carlo Emanuele I of Savoia, this magnificent temple features the largest elliptical dome in the world.
